The picture certainly has a point, though your conclusion does not. Much of man-made “religion” has nothing to do with honouring God, but some of the early Christians thought otherwise:
“Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” (James 1:27, WEB)
I fear I have a ways to go in this department, however.
