I’ve been observing things again.
I know I shouldn’t however just watching people making complete arses of themselves can be entertaining and then watching these arses become the authority on a subject becomes, frankly, terrifying.
Take for example, tax.
Much has been written and to some extent spat out with much venom regarding how much company A pays in tax compared to how much corporation B pays and how terrible it is. So much so that the angry, pitchfork wielding loons are out in force – some of which don’t work in the media, yes it has got that bad.
Take note of whatever shrill headline is being punted out by whichever pet politician or think tank come pressure group that your favourite media group has dug up to support its agenda. What morsel of wisdom is being proffered that backs up their ideology that somewhere, there is a great unfairness and therefore, we must all be outraged?
We are told that company X paid no Corporation tax on a turnover of hundreds of millions and that hospitals will implode, the end of civilisation is nigh and it is all so unfair.
THAT’S OUTRAGEOUS
…. but it isn’t and here’s why; Nobody but nobody pays any form of tax on turnover.
Again, read this very carefully, nobody pays any tax on turnover, tax is only ever paid on profit. Did you see what they’ve just done to you?
Big numbers shouted loudly coupled with a sense of injustice or outrage and who gives a stuff whether it is accurate or even true, the Proles will be up in arms.
Do you see?
This won’t stop those with a vested interest in bombarding you with so much bullshit that you blindly agree that company X are a bunch of bastards but it might make you see your favourite media stream in a different light.
Observation can tell you so much.
Bemused from Bermondsey.
