If we had no war, we wouldn’t know how to appreciate and value peace.
If we had no hunger, we wouldn’t know how to appreciate and value being well fed.
If we had no poverty, we wouldn’t know how to strive to enrich ourselves.
If we had no killing, we wouldn’t know how precious life is.
If we had no evil, we wouldn’t know good.
All planets with life on them will have evolved in this way. They are the essentials for the early millennia following our dragging ourselves out of the slime. Without them we would not have survived.
Learning how to be better than this is the next phase in our evolution.
