It seems very sad that the scientific process has been so corrupted.
Back in the day you could rely on scientific papers to have a basis in science rather than advocacy.
One of the biggest casualties is the subject of ‘climate change’ or ‘global warming’ or whatever buzz phrase it gets called by. The science is confused and contradictory as to wtf is actually going on. Yet, those who produce papers that back a doom and gloom, humans are to blame, scenario get additional funding, whilst those who question or produce alternative scientific results get virtually no funding.
Outshining the funding of research is the phenomenal funding that the advocacy groups like Greenpeace and the WWF get. And that cycles back into those doing the ‘research’ to ensure that it backs up the advocacy.
And more frighteningly, funding of groups and organisations whose soul purpose is to rubbish and defame the real scientists.
