I’ve mentioned before the satellite radio station “Euronet” which I programmed back in 1992/1993.
Remember? No? Well it’s all here.
What a fantastic radio station. Most fantastic radio stations end up being very sadly defiled by ‘anoraks’. Yeuch, anoraks. Spit. These morons set up land based pirate radio stations, or internet streams, using the same names and jingles as the original stations and then other anoraks somehow believe there is a continuity between the original and their attempt. Whack jobs, or what, eh?
The memory of so many landmarks in radio history have been defiled by anoraks in this way, with the copy-cat treatment being given to ‘Veronica’, ‘Big L’, ‘Swinging Radio England’, ‘Britain Radio’ ‘Radio Northsea International’, ‘Laser’ ‘Nova’ and so on.
Heck, there’s even stations using the name ‘Radio Caroline’ just like the most famous offshore radio station!!
But nobody has dared to copy the name ‘Euronet’ for their bedroom radio station.
There are a few contributing reasons why ‘Euronet’ has never been copied by the mental anoraks. Firstly, they hated it. And secondly, they are scared of what will happen to them if they dare.
However, the ‘Euronet’ name has been used since the heady days of MY radio station. Look at the evidence:
Yep, it’s proof from Frankfurt that the ‘Euronet’ legacy is (thankfully) not to be copied by some radio anorak, but it is to be part of high finance and money. A-hem. Somewhat of a complete contrast to the financial situation surrounding the original radio station.
Indeed, the photo was taken on some inferior shiny-shiny iSheep product by a somewhat famous Radio Caroline megastar and international author who’s name I cannot reveal here lest Interpol read this and put two and two together regarding his earlier disagreement with an armed police officer in the central bus station. He commented, “Don’t say I never got any money from Euronet!” and then had to be smuggled out of the country. Ok, it was international troublemaker Steve Conway but don’t tell him I told you, alright?
It’s good to know that it’s the bankers not the wankers that used the legendary name ‘Euronet’!
