What a lovely picture of our Sun in happier times when it used to look after us with the odd flare or two.
Sigh.
Those were the days.
PANIC! PANIC!
Apparently the Sun (that bright thing in the sky, not the newspaper) is about to go out. It’s now in the quietest phase of its 11-year activity cycle called “the solar minimum”, which was expected. BUT, what wasn’t expected or anticipated was exactly how damn quiet it would get.
PANIC! PANIC!
The alarm bells are ringing (I wonder if this is what’s behind the triggers of the recession and credit crunch. It could be, and let’s face it ‘they’ wouldn’t bother telling ‘us’ would they? Oh no, they wouldn’t want worldwide panic would they?) because we’ve had over 200 days with no observed sunspots.
PANIC! PANIC!
The solar wind has also dropped to its lowest levels in 50 years.
PANIC! PANIC!
Scientists are baffled by this calm, and unsure how it will affect our little planet. Yeah right. They ‘know’, they just won’t say it’s the end, the end I tell ye!
PANIC! PANIC!
