Rather stupidly, until people started to realise the the whole Global Warming thing was a bit of a scam, we had focussed continuously on bizarre remedies for an ailment we were not suffering from.
Huge amounts of cash has been recklessly poured into the scam. Bizarre levies, taxes and ideology that is still happening to this day, sending people into fuel poverty and death, is only just very very slowly being backed away from.
It took many years for the Global Warming machinery to grind into action. It’ll take at least a century for it to grind to a halt now that the wheels have finally fallen off.
The climate is constantly changing. That’s what is does and what it’s always done. We can’t change that. But we could spend time money and research on our ability to protect ourselves from the naturally constantly changing climate.
In many ways, we should be building a global response to deal with assisting human beings wherever they may be. We should be helping them survive hot, cold, wet, dry, and all those climate and weather patterns we as a species are so ill equipped to deal with.
Hey, yes, that’s all a bit hippyish and almost as crazy as the utterings of the human-hating enviro-loonies that have lurched us into the current crazy fuel poverty and power outages we are facing. And the reason why it doesn’t work is because as a species our compassion is completely overshadowed by our need to have an angle and make profit out of our fellow humans. It’s all about the profit, whether that profit is politcal power over others or financial gain from their needs.
This, unfortunately, is who we are.
I want to focus on a far greater threat to our existence. Beyond the constant threat that pockets of humanity suffer as climates evolve, is the potential for an extinction level event threat from space.
Nope, not little green men, but the large lumps of rock that are hurtling around our solar system. When they appear to be getting close to us or on a trajectory that will bring them to Earth we, so far, have been lucky. In recent history they have left large areas destroyed and changed, and provided us with spectacular firework displays. In the very distant past we are pretty sure that they have caused major extinction level events by plummeting us into ice ages and changing everything.
Are we ready for a serious collision with an asteroid or the like? No, we are not.
It seems that we are only capable of realising these objects are there about nine months to a year before they arrive. Were we to see one on collision course, that’s not a very advanced notice is it?
Possibly we need to develop two things. Firstly, our ability to detect and project objects from much much further away, hopefully up to 2 or 3 years ahead of any problems. Secondly, we need to know what to be able to do to defend our planet against them.
We need to be building craft or missiles or devices to be used to deflect contact with Earth. We should be ploughing our money into the science of protecting humanity or as many of us as is possible, when we are about to be hit by a large asteroid.
This really is something we should be ready for, rather than collectively accepting complete annihilation when we could have done something. Just a fraction of the money wasted on global warming scaremongers could start the ball rolling. This time it could actually save our lives.
