Happy Aggressive Secularism

It’s that time of year when the closed-minded celebrate the most bizarre of the fairy-story aspects of their religion that they accept without question; the concept of dying so that somebody’s ‘sins’ can be forgiven, and then, as it turns out, not dying at all.  Since there is no death, does this mean the sins were never actually forgiven? I think we should be told!

I’m sorry, but for goodness sake, this concept only makes sense to those who have switched their naturally inquisitive minds off, or have dropped a considerable quantity of mind-bending acid.

Christ warns the ladies: bodily harm may be caused by lighting farts.

As for the ‘risen’ bit, well the Bible contradicts itself so many times about when this was, who was there, or whether it happened at all, depending on which author you read within the recountings of the tale, so it’s a bit strange that this event appears to be an important part of the whole odd faith, but there it is.  You’d have thought the editors of the Bible would have made sure all the scripts agreed with each other!  But, apparently not.

I sadly accept that Easter was originally a pagan festival that was hijacked by the Christians a bit like the festivals that they forceably renamed Christmas.  For nearly a couple of thousand years now, Christianity has had its stranglehold on important parts of the world.  It wasn’t so long ago that it was a totally thoroughly nasty and aggressive cult that forced itself on pain of death into societies and persecuted alternative religions and women.  Christianity used to really hate women.  These days of course, it just teaches them to know their place.

Today it still operates ‘crusades’ into non-Christian societies and in its extreme form it will go around the world chasing oil and gold or other rich pickings without a care for those it may trample under foot on the way to its goal.

History shows that Christianity is definitely one of the world’s more aggressive religions, despite it pretending to be about a peaceful almost Buddhistic type of approach to life.

With this in mind, it made me laugh out loud to hear that some of the men in frocks that make their living out of running Christianity in England and Scotland have started to abuse what they’ve coined ‘aggressive secularism’ during their sermons at their faithful.

I assume this is born out of the fear that must be running through all Christian organisations’ minds that statistically there is now an end date for Christianity.  That is to say, people are free thinking so much these days that churches are closing on a daily basis and those that are open only get congregations when they are likely to be seen on the telly, or when the church has control of the food and medicine.

I guess it probably didn’t help to discover that some of the largest and most ‘protected’ paedophile rings operated within the church and kiddie fiddling has only been seen as a crime since Christians were finally forced to bow to pressure from secularists who managed to teach the moral guarding Christians that child abuse is very wrong.  This revelation about an apparently previously unchallenged ‘right’ for a priest to abuse children woke a lot from the spell of their faith, and resulted in a massive haemorrhaging of the faithful from their trance states into the waking world.

So, it’s easy to understand why those who run this religion are lashing out at free-thinking and trying to accuse them of being as aggressive as they are.

It’s fair to say that secularists might seem more aggressive.  I suspect it’s because they are now speaking out with more confidence than ever before, free from fear of being strapped into a ducking chair or other such device of Christian punishment reserved for those who don’t fall on their knees to worship as instructed.  To the men in frocks used to getting their own way and being in control at all levels, this will appear as aggressive as a popular uprising must seem to a tyrannical despot leader in Libya.

Nevertheless, Christianity is dying.  That’s the way it is.  People are maturing away from the need to believe in things that make no sense, and so the cults designed to control are losing control.  I guess that’s evolution for you, not to mention food for thought towards a future Happy Easter!
