A need for a common ground

This lovely place, christopherengland.com or “England’s England” as I call it, serves a purpose for me.  It allows me to provide one ‘thing’ a day for others to maybe enjoy or to ponder.

Those ‘things’ that I provide range from the stupid and the pointless through to the important and darn right scary glimpse into what’s really going on out there.

I’ve been privileged to have been occasionally joined by a couple of others who have things to say, and their work has been published here as a part of “England’s England”.  However, I don’t think this is a good thing.  I think there’s a need for a more ‘neutral ground’ which isn’t part of the ego-witterings of “Christopher England”.

With this in mind I’ve donated to the cause an old disused domain name that I’ve had knocking about doing nothing, and have started to build a brand new http://www.lumpit.com.

Once upon a time it was used for people to be very rude and shouty via.  A good bit of irreverent fun it was too, and then it had its moment in time and died.  It would be nice to use it for something a little bit more serious now.

It’s a good name ‘Lumpit’, and I think it can happily adopt and adapt to its new function as a centre for slightly more serious, not necessarily heavy, witterings about things we don’t necessarily like, but seem to be forced to ‘lump’.  By using this new place, I’m hopeful that I can encourage a small collection of ad hoc or regular authors to spout forth their ideas and concepts away from the whole Christopher England ego thing.  Of course, christopherengland.com will remain here being me me me as usual, no different, but Lumpit.com will be a truly neutral ground.

I’m hopeful that we can encourage new authors and contributors, especially ideas merchants (like you maybe?) to come forward and fly their ideas by those reading, and that lively and thought provoking debates can start to build within the comments that follow each article.

So then.  How about popping by and musing over the potential of Lumpit.com?  I’m seeding it with stuff you’ve already read here on christopherengland.com but I’m very hopeful that there will be new and previously unpublished work from others so it won’t always be dominated by my stuff.  And of course, any ideas or thoughts welcome!

Finally, if you’ve already written something cool somewhere and want it scooped up and included on Lumpit.com with a link back to your blog or site, then just let Lumpit.com know!
