Quite a few decades ago the panic was that we were ALL GOING TO DIE from a global nuclear catastrophe. Then we were ALL GOING TO DIE from acid rain. After that we were ALL GOING TO DIE from the earth’s resources running out. Then we were ALL GOING TO DIE from the imminent next ice age. After that the changing ozone layer was going ensure we were ALL GOING TO DIE. Then it was global warming that meant we were ALL GOING TO DIE. This got replaced by the definite thing guaranteed to ensure we were ALL GOING TO DIE which is now titled man-made climate change.

What the fuck is this obsession? Why are some people desperate to find something – anything – to satisfy their inner need to believe we are ALL GOING TO DIE? Is it a mental condition?
