So, life changing decisions are tough. And where we live and what our home is like is so very important.
I mean, I’m not one of those who likes having more than one place to live in. I realise that so many have a home in each country or a summer home, a winter home, a town home or a country home.
Me, I just want one.
I’m not getting any younger.
I was taking a look at buying something in Dubai. Indeed, there are many residencies built or not yet built, that would suit. I mean, I’m a lover of very modern architecture and could have something built to my rather exacting specifications, but I’d be stuck in just the one country.
See, I like sameness but also difference, so my final decision is the perfect solution.
I’m thinking of joining the ultimate gated community, The World. It’s got around 165 purpose built luxury homes, and I’m probably going to get one built to my own specifications, and move all my stuff in when the ship docks in Liverpool.
Ship? You ask. Yes, ship. The World is a massive ship. It is a ship not with 2,000 small cabins but 165 luxury full-size homes. It also has shops, restaurants, and all the usual stuff.
One buys one’s home, naturally, and one owns it. As one’s home is part of The World, this means one has purchased a shareholding in The World. There are large ongoing monthly service fees to pay, of course, but that’s to be expected in any gated community.
The beauty of The World is that you have your home exactly as you want it, but the view outside your windows is constantly changing. That’s something I’m quite looking forward to.
The World docks in different places for short periods allowing us to explore the locality. Now, as I mentioned, this includes places like Liverpool, or indeed it can include parts of the remote North Pole. It’s always changing. Indeed, residents vote on where The World goes each year. Currently it’s doing Europe, stopping for a few days in each port it comes to. So, that’ll suit me fine.
