Well, once again this is how they lie to you about Climate Change.
In a recent press release from the University of Copenhagen about a paper that was designed to scare people rather than present any actual science, the doom and gloom message was that America would be facing far more storm surges because of (man made) global warming. Yes, despite it not having ‘warmed’ for nearly 20 years, mother nature is going to get more aggressive, we are supposed to believe.
Crazily, this photo of the Statue of Liberty being all but engulfed was accompanied by the explanation, “The extreme storm surge from Superstorm Sandy in the autumn 2012 flooded large sections of New York and other coastal cities in the region. New research shows that such hurricane surges will become more frequent in a warmer climate.”
Scary stuff. And what a scary photo. It almost looks like New York was about to be washed away during Superstorm Sandy, doesn’t it? And, of course we are led to believe that was an actual photo of that storm.
But, the internet is a strange and open place.
My, my, my. Look what we have here.
It’s the same photo but without the Statue of Liberty.
In fact, looking at the surfers waiting in the water (and looking back at the top photo to see how very badly they’ve been ‘cloned’ out of the picture), it’s plain to see how the wave they are waiting to catch is big but nowhere near as big as it’s made to look by photoshopping the image of the Statue of Liberty in with it.
This surely begs the question why supposedly scientific papers need to be falsified by such pretend photography.
The reason, of course, is because it is important to ensure that everything is ‘on message’ and with maximum impact, regardless of what the truth might actually be.
The message is that we are all doomed and it’s all our fault, and we must accept any global solutions presented to us by the United Nations and the hugely funded humanity hating organisations like Greenpeace who have desires to destroy or change our society forever.
Surely only fools are still being fooled by the silly Global Warming scaremongering these days?

Weather as News.
Have you noticed Chris, that the media is concentrating hugely on any change in the weather. One morning, when it snowed a bit, the entire morning TV news ( alsmost ) was devoted to reporters standing next to snowy roads and doing vox pops to ask drivers if they had ever seen it so bad, which of course they had as this is the UK in Winter.
Then somewhere floods and out come the news crews. You can see the reporter struggling to finds something pertinent to say. Often it ends up with ' Well the water levels have receded now, but there is no telling when they will rise again '. Only they do not.
The only concl;usions I can come to is that either there is no news, but there is still a programme to fill, or that someone somewhere has decided that every bit of weather variation must be prime time viewing, with the subtle inference that this must be due to Climate Change.
I thought of this as I have just been asked to add my name to a petition. Seemingly the Government are considering ceasing to have Climate Change taught in schools as a curriculum subject. Hooray say I, but the screeching harridan who asks me to sign, says that this 'possibility ' must be taught in schools as an established fact.
I am sure the people like this lady are genuine in their views, but oh, how the people who are making fortunes from useless and costly means of creating energy or ordering the closure of perfectly good power stations, must be splitting their sides to see how their case is being argued for them by well meaning deluded people.

It's far worse in America where they don't have our broadcasting requirements to be 'fair and balanced'.
The problem is that if you feed the Global Warming meme to the journos enough (and they are all recruited via The Guardian any way), they will promote it. The world being about to end makes for better news than, “This is normal, just like many times before, don't worry about it”.
It's going to take a lot of work before it's 'taken as read' that our climate is fine and normal and exactly as it should be. But, we'll get there.

Be fair. We all watched that storm on TV or the 'net and there is no one on the planet who thought that picture was anything other than a 'This is what it will look like' picture. You're not the only non-gullible citizen of the planet.
I'd say the only difference between you and me is that I don't pretend to know. As far as I can tell the argument in this situation goes like this:-
It's happening – Prove it – I can't.
It's not happening – Prove it – I can't.
It's a bit like believing in God really…

The problem is that there are people who will believe the fake picture is real, plus the original point is that a science paper should not need to be sensationalised in a tabloid way. It's supposed to be neutral.
The God argument is not a good analogy, because the onus of proof is on those putting forward the proposition of its existence. Likewise, that there is dramatic climate change and man is to blame, is a proposition that needs to be proven scientifically, which it clearly hasn't been. Despite this, the massive highly funded advocacy machinery is in action telling us we are to blame and we must face fuel poverty as punishment.
So, very similar to any other religion I guess.

The bit about this argument that amused me the most was the brief truce called a few years ago when the It's Happening lobby admitted that their ground level measurements of the Earth's warming were wrong and the No It's Not lobby admitted that their figures from space showing that the Earth wasn't warming up were also wrong.
So for a brief moment in time both sides agreed that the world was warming up on the atmospheric side, but not at ground level…
What exactly was that supposed to tell me?
