A baby is born with factory settings.
Those settings contain no religion and no mumbo-jumbo to cloud the mind.
A baby is born an atheist.
Then, whilst at its most impressionable and vulnerable, its parents abuse its trust.
They tell it lies about Santa, about the Tooth Fairy, and about a god.
They tell it these lies just as their parents told them the same lies, as their parents parents did before them.
The abused always becoming the abuser, the cycle never broken.
As a child grows it slowly learns the real truth about Santa and the Tooth Fairy and so no longer ‘believes’.
In this modern and secular part of the world the child also learns of the lies about a god and so releases itself from that lie too.
So many in so many parts of the world don’t have this freedom to think for themselves as their original factory settings designed them to. To reject the whole god lie is to be sentenced to death by those around them.
But part of child protection should be to not allow their parents or any others involved in their care to abuse them with these lies.
Stop fiddling with children’s factory settings. It’s child abuse.
