Slaying the Sky Dragon

Here’s a nice gentle read for Christmas.  Available in paperback from early December and available via Amazon right now as an eBook, is ‘Slaying the Sky Dragon‘.

“One year after Climategate the greenhouse gas theory, the absolute cornerstone of IPCC ‘science,’ is torn to shreds. In an unprecedented achievement 24 international experts (over 2 volumes) have worked tirelessly to compose the definitive masterpiece of skeptical science.”

Well, that just about sums it up. It is a methodological, thorough, and somewhat conclusive unpacking of the bogus interpretation of the science behind the whole ‘climate change’ scam, and shows how the climate change industry was spun on a web of lies. 

“The first revelation comes from Mišo Alkalaj, a mathematician and head of Center for Communication Infrastructure at the “J. Stefan” Institute, Slovenia. Alkalaj refutes a fundamental claim made by the IPPC – in which ‘scientists’ have asserted they can distinguish between human-emitted carbon dioxide (CO2) and its naturally occurring equivalent. 

The claim is exposed as being without any scientific basis. It is an unsupported concoction of a lone UN insider cynically and fraudulently inserted into the UN literature as if it was accepted science.”

The problem with the book, and indeed with any book of this ilk, is that environmentalism is the new age religion building a following to rival the most crusading of Christianity or Islam.  The need for guilt, self-flagellation and to be to blame for something – anything – overrides logical thinking in those who are entrenched within any religion.  And that’s the problem.

What we really need is to be able to use a language they can hear and understand in order to de-construct people’s inane yet insatiable need to believe in things for which there is no scientific proof.  We also need to stop the tiny number of ‘thought-makers’ from having such a huge influence as mentioned in the promotional clip in italics above.

All sceptics and free-thinkers can do is keep asking for proof and logical explanations from those who have fallen to their new faith in the hope that they will stir and examine the truth.  Then maybe we can get on with expanding our horizons of real knowledge and understanding of life, the universe and everything.

  1. I ask this question quite innocently – I genuinely don't know what to think about global warming, as both sides in this debate make interesting and significant claims.

    Are any of the scientists who put their names for this book members of the faculty at major academic institutions? The ones that really clever people go to… Oxbridge, Ivy League, Cass etc? If not, why not?

  3. I'm afraid all the authors appear to be crackpots. Claes Johnson, for example, has invented his own laws of thermodynamics, finding the ones used by physicists to be unsatisfactory.

    The CO2 isotope argument is just silly, since there are multiple strands of evidence that the post-industrial increase in CO2 is of human origin, not just this one. For a start, we know how much CO2 is emitted by human activities each year, and that this is about twice as much as is remaining in the atmosphere – thus the natural world is a net sink of CO2, not a source.

  5. Professor Claes Johnson is the most cited mathematics professor in Sweden and he teaches at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. How does that qualify him as a “crackpot”?
    Sounds like the usual despairing warming tactic- attack the man and not the scientific arguments.

    On the GlobalWarmingSuperheroes “O’Sullivan’s Selective Myopia” thread (Note 6) one Jeff Daley claimed that “I was told John Osullivan is going to announce in Janaury the setting up a new science association called Principia Scientific International to sue all your criminal warmist buddies for fraud”. Jeff managed to get the first bit right but that “ .. sue .. for fraud” is more CACC disciple nonsense dreamed up by someone with a very vivid imagination to try to discredit PSI. Looking through PSI’s Articles of Association (Note 7) I could find no mention of any intention to sue anyone for fraud. I asked Jeff to let us all know who told him that fairy tale but I’m still waiting.

    BTW, I submitted a similar comment to Realclimate yesterday and – surprise surprise – it hasn’t yet appeared. I wonder if it will get past the “hockey team” without being “snipped”. Never mind, it’s on Wattsupwiththat (Note 8) and a few others. I wonder what reaction there’ll be from supporter of the CACC doctrine to this threat to their religion.
