The big Pintsize Geeza

Here’s a man that ought to go far in the future: Pintsize.

Pintsize is a DJ on Hightz FM (108 MHz across London town) on Thursdays 2pm – 4pm.

Erm, well, of course it’s not officially blasting all over London, that must be down to some naughty people not connected in any way who have decided to relay this perfectly legitimate web-only radio station that can be found at http://www.Hightzlive.com.

Pintsize is laugh out loud funny and entertaining.

The basis of his show is that he plays a few songs and of course has a constant interaction with his audience via text or missed calls, but he talks about himself and his life, each story then sort of drifting into a live song he’ll sing with one of his backing tracks.

I guess it’s a sort of one man musical but on the radio.

He has some brilliant songs that include how he discovered the only girl for him was his blow-up doll Molly (it’s not rude or sexually suggestive at all the way he does it) because he’s such a loser.

There’s another one about how he’s woken up and looked in a mirror and is confused because he’s sure he went to bed white, but he’s woken up black. It then tells the story of how he goes to his mother and realises she’s black, too (Obviously this loses a lot in the translation when I write about it here, but it is a great listen when you hear it for yourself).

Pintsize betraying his usual Molly for some old china

The base style of music for his show is probably mainly R’n’B, so it’s not too heavy or alienating for those who don’t like current stuff. However, of course, in keeping with most modern day pirates, the music is largely irrelevant to what’s actually going on. It gets quite surreal when he has an argument with Molly and then gets girls texting in to tell him to make up, or on her side and telling him to apologise to her.

This sorta thing has got to be the future of broadcasting.

Good belly-laugh stuff, not rude or aggressive, but fun and amazingly original. Plus, all done off the cuff on the fly (well, apart from the lyrics to his songs which I’d guess he’s already written of course).

Somebody needs to pick him up and drop him in on a legitimate station.

Hmmm.

I guess that would need there to be a legitimate station that was experimental and happy to break from the norm and old fashioned idea of how music radio should work.  But I can hope.
